We know it's never easy to say goodbye to a loyal member of your family. That's right, we're talking about your car. When it came time for Paulette to let her Pacifica go, she turned heartbreak into joy... by donating her car to her favorite station, WAMC. You can too!
Dear Car Talk Vehicle Donation Services,
I loved my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. It was a great car, and was my companion for many years of hauling kids around, picking up groceries, going on vacation, and bringing lawn chairs to youth sports events. I bonded with other Pacifica owners, and we were universally offended over the fact that Chrysler discontinued the Pacifica line, since we all knew what a useful vehicle it was. However, after 10 years of great memories, my Pacifica’s engine began making weird noises, and our mechanic said that it would cost more to fix than the car was worth. I was heartbroken, and even the prospect of getting a shiny new car (but it wouldn’t be a Pacifica!) did not lighten my mood.
What did make me a little bit better about the situation, however, was that I could use my poor, broken Pacifica to do some good for my wonderful local public radio station, WAMC Northeast Public Radio. I’d heard the car donation commercials on the air, and knew that even though my car had very little trade-in value to me, it could be sold at a car auction and benefit WAMC. The website made it really easy to donate, and the car was picked up very quickly.
I’m hopeful that the timeless styling and good body and interior condition of my Pacifica will bring WAMC a nice donation, and I know that I will also benefit from an income tax charitable donation credit. Thank you for making it easy for me to help my favorite radio station.
